Thank you for visiting my website! My name is Daan van der Vorm, and this website serves as a repository for my ongoing projects. The majority of these projects involve microbiology, molecular biology, and art. I've been fascinated by the inner workings of cells since high school. It's incredible how such complexity could emerge from pure chance! The cost of molecular biology has fallen dramatically in the last decade. The human genome project is perhaps the best-known example. It ended up costing three billion dollars (~six billion when corrected for inflation) to sequence the human genome. The cost of sequencing a genome is now around three hundred dollars (a decrease of 10⁷!). This decrease in cost heralds the golden age of biotechnology! What a Thrill! The art in my projects is the vehicle used to express my point of view and how excited I am about this discipline.
